I’ve come to accept that the creative journey can include using technology to build things that solve a problem. Products, apps, and services that can serve a purpose and make the world a better place are valid vehicles for entrepreneurship.

Lately I've been building an app for writer critique groups and freelance line editors, developmental work I keep returning to because it bridges craft and infrastructure—the same intersection I keep finding in my poems.

Building, like creative writing, involves a lot of waiting: sitting with a problem patiently and filing away what each iteration teaches you and carrying that lesson forward.

What that teaches may be patience of a cosmic order.

Cosmic patience

There are perks to out-waiting the depths of despair

There are perks to remaining in liminal zones

There are perks to just sitting and learning

The Mind will remember—outlasting death—

And the death of the self that you never were,

And the end of the One who forever begins

Learning, adapting, and filing away,

Mapping templates for loops of encounter

In life, with love, tracing doves up above—

And with hate down below.

In the dark that the light never deigns to show,

Is the terrible secret amongst awe-ful things—
